The New 2019 iPad Air & iPad mini are Here!

The New 2019 iPad Air & iPad mini are Here!

Apple was supposed to be announcing a couple of their powerhouse products, the iPad Air and iPad mini, Monday next week. But it seems like Apple fans don't need to wait that long. The big announcement was released on Apple's press release blog, Newsroom.

The new iPads under the spotlight are the all-new iPad Air, an ultra-thin 10.5-inch tablet and the 7.9-inch iPad mini. Both sport Apple Pencil support, advanced Retina display with True Tone technology, 1080p Full-HD cameras, and the latest A12 Bionic chip that delivers 15% faster performance while being 40% more energy-efficient than the previous iteration: the A11.

Taking on some of the characteristics of its older sibling, the 2018 iPad Pro, the all-new iPad Air has the same 10.5-inch dimension and the A12 Bionic chip, albeit with 2 less cores (hexa-core vs octa-core). Where they differ, however, is with its light 464-gram weight (vs. 633g) and its advanced Retina display with True Tone technology, delivering over half a million more pixels.

5th-gen iPad Mini (2019)

The all-new iPad Mini received a major upgrade that fans of the well-received previous version will love. Packing the same motor as the all-new iPad Air, the 5th-gen iPad mini is one ultra-portable, ultra-powerful multitasking machine. Upgrades include the A12 Bionic chip, with 3x more performance and 9x more graphics processing power than the half-a-decade old A8, the latest Retina display with a 25% brighter True Tone technology, and Apple Pencil support.

Long-awaited Apple Pencil Support

Perhaps the much-awaited upgrade for these two new additions to the iPad line-up is the compatibility with Apple Pencil. With Apple Pencil, the full potential of the iPad is unlocked and maximised. You'll actually be able write and draw as naturally and as fluidly as ever before.

Moreover, the apps specifically designed for creatives and productive computing have been steadily growing, with more than 1.3 million apps just for the iPad. Now you can journal, create spreadsheets and documents, perform on-the-spot presentations, mix music, and edit photos and videos in one ultra-light, ultra-portable device.
