Well, given that it earned more than $1.2 billion in just a weekend, it's not surprising that the Avengers: Endgame will break all known box office records, except for one.
The No. 1 highest-grossing film of all time worldwide remains Avatar with $2.8 billion. Although all signs point to Avengers: Endgame eclipsing this mark as well.
The 22nd movie in the vaunted Marvel Cinematic Universe and the concluding epic to the Infinity War saga just passed Titanic to become the second highest-grossing movie of all time, earning $2.2 billion at the global box office in just nine days. To reach this milestone, Titanic had to be shown for 10 months in theatres, plus a remastered re-release in 3D seven years ago.
Only five films have ever crossed the $2 billion mark and three of them are Disney releases:
- Avatar $2,788.0 billion
- Avengers: Endgame $2,188.7 billion
- Titanic $2,187.5 billion
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens $2,068.2 billion
- Avengers: Infinity War $2,048.4 billion
The biggest question now in everyone's mind is: will it be the first movie to gross $3,000,000,000? That remains to be seen.
